WASHINGTON, DC
– The Latino Coalition, a leading advocate for Latino-owned, small and medium-sized businesses, issued the following statement regarding the Senate’s 68-32 vote on S. 744 “Border Security, Economic Opportunity and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013”:

“After much discussion about our broken immigration system, today, we are one step closer to meaningful immigration reform, securing our border, growing our economy and reaffirming our commitment to building an innovative workforce for the future,” said Hector Barreto, TLC’s Chairman and Former Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (2001-2006).

“The Gang of Eight has shown determination and leadership on an issue that will expand the flexibility of the nation’s labor force and economic growth. However, significant work remains as the House of Representatives takes up this issue. Now is the time to come together, rise above partisanship and send forward a comprehensive immigration reform bill for the President’s approval,” Barreto added.
