The Latino Coalition on the Federal Communications Commission Wireless Spectrum Auction

WASHINGTON, DC April 18, 2017– The Latino Coalition (TLC), the leading national non-partisan advocacy organization representing Hispanic businesses and consumers, issued the following statement regarding the closing of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) broadcast incentive auction:

“The Latino Coalition has always been an advocate for the protection of consumers, and today wireless consumers are the true winners,” said Hector Barreto, The Latino Coalition Chairman and former U.S. Small Business Administrator.  “The FCC’s announcement of the closing of the broadcast incentive auction will create a one-off-a-kind market for repurposing valuable broadcast airwaves for nationwide wireless mobile use.  Simply put— this is more innovation, enhanced productivity and greater competition within the mobile broadband marketplace.  We applaud the FCC and Congress for working in a bipartisan manner to continue revolutionizing the broadcast and wireless industries, and ensuring that America’s networks will safeguard the public’s interest while being equipped for the 21st century demands of a growing economy.”
